- Description
- The full-text New Pauly is an encyclopaedia of the ancient world for everyday use, even by
students with a very modest amount of Greek or Latin. It offers simple paraphrases and quotes in
translation, as well as numerous illustrations, survey maps and tables. It also covers interest in
Antiquity (the Classical Tradition) in all periods of European and, since the Early Modern period,
world history. The articles on Antiquity are brief, usually factual, and closely related to persons
and texts; but the survey articles provide orientation to periods, social and economic structures,
genres, and philosophical systems.
