- ERIC (Education Resources Information Center) is a national online digital library
sponsored by the Institute of Education Sciences (IES) of the U.S. Department of Education. The
largest education database in the world, ERIC contains over 1.3 million citations for journal
articles, books, research papers, conference papers, technical reports, policy papers,
dissertations, theses, and other materials in the field of education. ERIC provides full text
for 328, 266 items. The digital library includes indexing for 1085 journals, 983 of which are
comprehensively indexed. A majority of the journals are peer-reviewed. The ERIC online
digital library is publicly accessible at http://eric.ed.gov/.

university presses, the U.S. Department of Education and other federal agencies, state and local
agencies, Individual contributors submit conference papers, research papers, dissertations, and
theses.
- Type of coverage
- Citations with abstracts for 1966+ and a continually expanding collection of full text educational
documents (i.e. ED numbers). ERIC provides full text for 328,266 records, including materials from
non-journal sources, journals, online submissions, and the ERIC microfiche collection (1966-2004).
RUL contains the full text of many of the journals cited.

Alexander Library also owns a complete collection of the educational documents (ED numbers)
available on microfiche. These may be retrieved from Alexander's Current Periodicals/Microforms Room
using the ED number. The ERIC database includes the full text of approximately 301, 380 of these
documents from 1966-2004.
