- Description
-
The Corpus is a French-literature resource containing the full text of 1,000 narrative
works that date from the Middle Ages (Moyen Âge) to the 20th century. A
co-production of the Centre National d'Enseignement à Distance (CNED - Ministère de
l'Éducation Nationale), Classiques Garnier Numérique, Paris, and the Université
de Paris IV-Sorbonne, the Corpus provides users with access to major works of French
literature in the following genres: stories, novels, (contes, nouvelles,
romans) and other narrative forms such as epics, fables, lais, essays, narratives, and
satires (chansons de geste, fables, fabliaux, lais,
littérature d'idées, récits, récits de
predictions, satires). Of special note to students in the Rutgers University
French Department, the Corpus boasts the majority of the titles required on the M.A./Ph.D. Reading Lists. In
addition, the Corpus promotes novel approaches to literary research by allowing users to search the
entire contents of the database by keyword. The database offers several advanced
functionalities for this research, such as Boolean search, search customization, and the generation
of indexes and concordances upon request.
