Description

The Bates' Visual Guide to Physical Examination video series provides “head to toe” and systems-based physical examination techniques.  The videos, delivered via streaming video, cover adult, infant, child, and older adult patients.  Each video may be viewed as a full volume, or chapter-by-chapter.  The eighteen available videos are:

  • The video series serves as a compliment to the Bates Guide to Physical Examination and History Taking book.

    This resource also provides access to ten OSCE Clinical Skills Videos.  Viewing them will assist in the preparation for Objective Structured Clinical Examinations or OSCEs.  Each presents a clinical encounter; viewers are then given the opportunity to develop an assessment or differential diagnosis and provide an appropriate diagnostic workup.  The subjects include:

    “Chapters” within the Physical Examination series may be viewed with a click on the corresponding image.  The right-pointing arrow is click to start each video.  There are links at the bottom of the screen to “previous” and “next” videos within a series.  Icons are also available to turn on closed captioning, to raise/lower the volume of the narration, or to view the video as a full screen (the ESC button on the computer keyboard turns off the closed caption and full screen features).
