Users may also create a personal account. Personal accounts allow access to more features and are available only to currently affiliated RBHS students, staff, or faculty. A personal account is required to use MD Consult Mobile/First Consult, which gives access to the books, journals, Clinics and clinical practice guidelines through web-enabled smart phones like the iPhone, etc.

Description

MDConsult provides full-text access to over 80 medical journals and Clinics, 50 medical references across a wide range of specialties, clinically-relevant drug information, and over 15,000 patient handouts.  Patient handouts may be customized to include physician name and contact information.

User tools and features

Content is provides in the following sections:  Books, Journals (articles), Clinics review articles, Patient Education handouts, Drug information, clinical practice guidelines, and images.  Each content section may be browsed from a menu presented on the top of the home page or may be searched simultaneous or individually.  MDC also provides features like news items, “what others are reading,” and opportunities for free CME for those affiliated with Rutgers University.  The Results page presents the user with numbers of relevant citations matching the search query, as well as a limited number of the most relevant “hits.”  The user has the ability to click in order to see “more,” as well as to link to available full-text content.
