Sax's Dangerous Properties of Industrial Materials

Sax's is the primary source of information covering the evaluation of the hazardous potential of substances used in commerce. It is the only reference work that provides information about so many materials with regard to toxicology, flammability, reactivity, explosive potential, and regulatory information. 

This resource has expanded over the years and now covers some 26,000 substances, including 2,600 new entries in the current edition. All entries are periodically reviewed and updated as needed to reflect the latest information. In addition, Sax's now contains "Immediately Dangerous Life or Health" (IDHL) levels for approximately 1,000 chemicals. It also covers exposure-level classifications for a number of regulatory agencies, including OSHA and the U.S. Dept. of Transportation. 

Each entry includes the following data (where available):

• DPIM code (Dangerous Properties of Industrial Materials)
• Hazard rating
• Entry name
• CAS registry number (Chemical Abstracts Service. The CAS registry number is a unique numeric code assigned to each chemical substance as an unambiguous identifier.)
• DOT number (U.S. Department of Transportation)
• Molecular formula
• Line structural formula
• Description of each material including physical properties and chemical name synonyms
• Toxicology data with references to reports of primary skin and eye irritation plus mutation, reproductive, carcinogenic, and acute toxic dose data.
