Global Presence @Livingston – new exhibit at Kilmer Library

October 24, 2013

Which countries do our international students come from?
Which departments, majors, minors, and certificates are available in global or international areas of study on the Livingston campus?
Which RU librarians support studies in foreign languages, literature, cultures, and history?

These questions and others are addressed in the Kilmer Library exhibit, which showcases broadly the “Global Presence @Livingston.” This exhibit highlights a variety of Livingston campus departments, centers and programs that offer numerous international courses, majors, and host international events and activities, such as:

  • Department of Africana Studies
  • Department of African, Middle Eastern and South Asian Languages and Literatures (AMESALL)
  • Department of Geography
  • Department of Latino and Hispanic Caribbean Studies (LHCS)
  • Asian American Cultural Center (AACC)
  • Center for African Studies (CAS)
  • Center for Latin American Studies (CLAS)
  • Center for Middle Eastern Studies (CMES)
  • South Asian Studies Program (SASP)

The Centers for Global Advancement and International Affairs (GAIA Centers), which serves as an important thread that weaves the various global activities across Rutgers, are also highlighted. Selected information about the Center’s Global Programs, Global Relations, Global Education and Global Services is included. A World map physically plots all the different countries from where international students come to attend Rutgers.

Rutgers University Libraries’ liaison librarians that serve these global programs on Livingston are also represented in the exhibit. Students who would like to reach one of these librarians for any questions or library research advice have access to their contact information in this exhibit or on the libraries’ website http://www.libraries.rutgers.edu.

For questions, comments or suggestions about the exhibition please contact: Triveni Kuchi kuchi@rutgers.edu and Kimberly Kaiser kkaiser@rulmail.rutgers.edu.
