Rutgers University Libraries’ Health Sciences Libraries and the Office of Research and Economic Development are proud to celebrate the eighth annual International Open Access Week with a Symposium on Open Access:  Perspectives in Biomedical and Health Sciences on Tuesday, October 20 and Wednesday, October 21.

All are invited to attend to learn more about how Open Access can positively affect the visibility, impact, and value of their research as well as the opportunities it presents for innovative and productive collaborations.  Questions regarding Rutgers’ Open Access Policy, effective September 1, 2015, and Scholarly Open Access at Rutgers (SOAR) will also be addressed.

Each symposium will feature a keynote presentation by P. Scott Lapinski, scholarly communication and research librarian at Harvard University.  The talk will be followed by a panel discussion featuring faculty researchers and representatives of Open Access and traditional publishers.

Presenter Biography:  P. Scott Lapinski is the scholarly communication and research librarian at Harvard University and the Open Access liaison to the Harvard Office for Scholarly Communication.  He provides outreach, support, and services to faculty, researchers, and grants managers, helping them navigate the NIH Public Access Policy and the online systems necessary to manage compliance with mandatory PubMed Central Open Access submissions.
