Description

Red Book Online is one of the main components of the larger resource Micromedex 2.0, which provides evidence-based drug information and clinical answers. Red Book Online allows you to search for prescription or over the counter medications, nutraceuticals, bulk chemicals, medical devices or supplies by product name or manufacturer. Searches for a specific active ingredient in the product or by a specific code (such as NDC, UPC, or HRI) are also supported. The most unique feature of the Red Book is that it provides the Average Wholesale Price (AWP) for all medications.

Additional features include:

  • A Drug Interactions tool which checks for interacting drugs, their effects, and clinical significance.
  • A Drug Comparison tool which helps compare drug attributes such as: dosing, administration, indications, contraindications, precautions, adverse effects, and interactions.
  • Trissel's 2 IV Compatibility which provides easy access to "Trissel's™ 2 Clinical Pharmaceutics Database" (Parenteral Compatibility) with proven data to assist with accurate IV compatibility decisions at the point of care.
  • The Tox and Drug Products section searches products by brand or generic names including "the global "Martindale" database.
