Updated Tie Line Procedures

Now that the new PBX telephone system at Camden is fully operational, tie line procedures for calling Camden from the Newark and New Brunswick/Piscataway campuses have changed. During the switch over in the telephone system in Camden, calls were being made to the Camden Campus using the outside 9+1+ten-digit system. Since calls dialed via tie line access codes will not incur any long distance fees, unlike outside 9+1+ten-digit calls, we should use the tie line to make calls between campuses. Following are updated, detailed instructions and numbers to call when making a call from the two campuses to Camden.

Tie line procedures for other intercampus calling are also included for informational purposes only; they have not been changed.

New Brunswick/Piscataway to Camden

Use your normal procedure for getting an outside line to make campus calls, then dial 121+1766, wait for the Camden Campus recording, and then enter the desired four-digit extension, if you already know it. For example, when calling Camden from the administrative offices in New Brunswick, the dialing sequence is 9+6+121+1766. It is not necessary to listen to the recording unless you don't know your party's four-digit extension. In that case, you may want to listen to the recording the first time to get a sense of what you need to do. To find your party using their directory, you will be instructed to press 1, and then spell your party's last name and first name. You will then be connected to their extension. Please note that there may or may not be a delay before the Camden Campus recording begins.

New Brunswick/Piscataway to Newark
