Type of coverage

|
Full text or web links are provided for some citations, and the complete text of the Statistical Abstract of the United
States is included in the database.
Indexing and abstracts of U.S. government statistical publications are
available from 1973 forward. The database provides detailed abstracts,
indexing, and locator information for all statistical reports of general
research value issued by the federal government, with some reports as
far back as the early 1960s. Materials not linked or provided full text
online are generally available either at the Alexander Library or the
Library of Science and Medicine in New Brunswick, although holdings may
not appear in IRIS. Contact the reference desk for assistance in
locating material. Selected materials are also available at the Robeson
Library in Camden and the Dana Library in Newark.
Statistical materials are also available from 1980 on for state
agencies, think tanks, and many private sources. For those that are not
linked online or provided full text, a complete microfiche collection is
available at the Alexander Library. Select material, especially State of
New Jersey statistical products, may also be available at Alexander and
other libraries in hard copy.
In addition, LexisNexis Statistical provides indexing for documents from international governmental organizations (IGOs), e.g., the United Nations, the International Monetary Fund, etc. since 1983. Strong collections of IGO materials are held by the Alexander Library and the Library of Science and Medicine in their respective collecting areas, and by the Dana Library in Newark for business. Not all of these
resources are included in IRIS; contact the libraries' reference desks
for holdings information.
Obtaining Sources
Rutgers users have numerous options for locating documents not provided
full text in LexisNexis Statistical.
Since many documents are not in IRIS, Rutgers' online catalog,
it is important to copy down the Record No. from the citation and to consult a
reference librarian
for assistance in locating material.
Federal (U.S.) Documents
Alexander Library in New Brunswick (Social Sciences and Humanities) and
the Library of Science and Medicine in Piscataway house the largest
collections of federal documents within the Rutgers University Libraries. Smaller collections are maintained by the Dana Library in Newark and the Robeson Library in Camden. Search IRIS to locate materials and consult a reference librarian for assistance in locating materials not listed in IRIS. Alexander Library has a microfiche collection of all non-depository materials bearing an ASI Record No. Noting the Record No. will facilitate retrieval.
International Documents
Search IRIS to locate materials and consult a reference librarian for assistance in locating materials not listed in IRIS. Most materials from the UN, OECD, EU, IMF, and UNESCO are housed at Alexander Library. Items from the FAO and WHO are at the Library of Science and
Medicine.
State/Miscellaneous Documents
-
New Jersey State documents are fully cataloged in IRIS, except for materials published prior to 1985 that are housed at the Library of Science and Medicine. Consult a reference librarian for assistance in locating materials not listed in IRIS.
- For documents from other states, consult a reference librarian.
- The Alexander Library maintains a complete microfiche collection of
all LexisNexis Statistical documents bearing an SRI Record No. Noting the SRI year/accession number will facilitate retrieval from this collection.
