Imaging Services Imaging Services provides self-service copy cards, photocopiers, networked printing and microform printing throughout Rutgers University Libraries. Staffed services such as scanning, faxing, and photocopying, are also offered at Imaging Services offices for an additional fee.

Office Locations and Hours
Self-ServicesSelf Services are available during library building hours. Copy Card VendingCopy cards may be purchased for $1 (a $ .50 charge for a new copy card is included) from vending machines at the following libraries. More value can be added to a copy card (maximum $25) in denominations of $1, $5, $10, or $20 at the vending machines.

PhotocopyingPhotocopiers are available at the Alexander Library, the Library of Science & Medicine, SERC, SMLR, Libraries Annex, Dana Library, and Robeson Library. Hard copies can be produced at other locations by using the scan to print functionality of our public scanning stations, described below. Black and white copies cost $ .10 per page. All photocopying is paid for by copy cards, which can be purchased from copy card vending machines located throughout Rutgers University Libraries. Self Service ScanningPublic scanning stations are available throughout the libraries. Scan options allow for various file formats including pdf, tiff, and jpeg, black and white or color images, optical character recognition, cropping, and more. The choices for destination of scanned images are:
*Please note that users with a NetID can scan to print directly to computing labs at Alexander, Art, Douglass, Kilmer, and LSM. Fee based scanning is paid for by copy cards, which can be purchased from copy card vending machines located throughout Rutgers University Libraries. Networked PrintingNetworked printing is available at the following libraries: Alexander Library, Art Library, Chang Science Library, Dana Library-Newark, Douglass Library, Kilmer Library, Library of Science & Medicine, Robeson Library-Camden, and School of Management and Labor Relations Library. Black and white print jobs cost $ .10 per page. Color print jobs cost $ .25 per page. Prints may be paid for by copy cards, which can be purchased from copy card vending machines located throughout the Rutgers University Libraries. Students that have RU Express accounts can also use their cards to pay for printing. Please note: Library computers are able to print to OIT labs within the building at the following libraries: Alexander, Douglass, Kilmer, LSM, and Dana. Microform PrintingMicroform equipment is available for use throughout Rutgers University Libraries except for the following libraries: Art Library, Mathematical Sciences Library, Science & Engineering Resource Center, and School of Management and Labor Relations Library. Copies printed from microform cost $ .20 per page. All copies are paid for by copy cards, which can be purchased from copy card vending machines located throughout the Rutgers University Libraries. Microform equipment is available for use throughout Rutgers University Libraries. See the "Services Offered by Library" table above for locations. Staffed ServicesPayment for all staffed services may come in the form of cash or check. Additionally, RU Express is available as a payment option at the Alexander Library Imaging Services office. Copy Card Purchase OrdersTo purchase a copy card with an Internal Purchase order, please submit your purchase order through RIAS. The form can be found under Copy Services - Copycard Purchase. PhotocopyingImaging Services staff will do your photocopying for you during hours of operation at the Imaging Services offices at Alexander Library and Dana Library-Newark. See below for prices:
* Please note that the reduced rates for photocopying apply to copying that can be done with a sheet feeder only. Hand placement of originals on the flat bed of the copier calls for the higher fee schedule, regardless of the number of copies made. Staff Assisted PrintingUse of Alexander Imaging Services office computers is available during hours of operation for printing for special circumstances, (such as duplexing or printing to transparencies).
Document Printing and Binding/Theses and DissertationsDuring hours of operation the Imaging Services office in the basement level of Alexander Library can bind paper booklets of up to 200 sheets in width by using a comb binder. Comb binding is a quick, easy way to give any document a perfect soft cover "book finish." The fee for this service is $5.00 per bound document. Imaging Services will print documents that require binding for a reduced fee of $.05 per page. All copyright restrictions apply. Hard cover bindings are also available for between $30 and $50 per copy, (printing included), depending on the number of pages to be bound and type of paper used. For details on this service, please refer to the order form [PDF]. FAX ServicesFAX Service is available at Alexander Library during hours of operation. See below for prices.
ScanningBlack and white, grayscale or color scanning is available at Alexander Library Imaging Services during hours of operation. Imaging Services staff will scan materials for you for $ .25 per page for sheet fed scans. Overhead book scanning or image editing adds a handling fee of $5.00 per 10 minutes of staff time (minimum of 10 minutes). PDF, JPEG, and TIF formats are available, with resolution up to 600 dpi. Imaging Services staff can run OCR, (optical character recognition), on a scanned file at the customer's request for an additional charge of $5.00 per 10 minutes. Scanned images can be saved to a floppy, CDROM, printed or emailed. Scanning services are available by appointment only. Analog to DVD ReformattingImaging Services at Alexander Library offers an Analog to DVD reformatting service. A patron can bring a personal VHS tape or a 16mm film to the library, complete the request form [PDF] and return 5-7 working days later to retrieve the original analog format item and a new DVD copy. The patron will be notified when the reformatted copy is available. Payment for this service must be made at time the order is submitted in the form of cash or a personal check made out to Rutgers University. By submitting an order the patron declares and warrants that all materials provided for conversion and/or duplication are not in violation of any copyright laws. The analog format materials submitted must be created by the patron, or the patron has the right to permit Rutgers University Libraries staff to perform duplication services, or the patron has the permission of the copyright owner to duplicate video materials and a written release form is provided. Your Analog to DVD conversion will be handled with great care by a qualified technician with many years of experience. However, Rutgers University Libraries are not liable for any damages or losses of any kind to the original VHS tape or 16mm film provided by the patron. The price for the Analog to DVD Reformatting Service is as follows:
If you require multiple copies of the DVD copy, please see the CD/DVD Duplication section for prices according to number of DVDs required. The Analog to DVD Reformatting Fee above will only pay for one DVD copy. CD/DVD DuplicationImaging Services at Alexander Library offers the use of a multi input CD/DVD duplicating computer and a specialized printer for printing directly onto discs. Because of copyright law, only material created by the requester is eligible for duplication. Imaging Services reserves the right to determine whether or not the duplication request is permissible under copyright law. Examples of acceptable uses of this service include:

Professional thermal transfer printing to CD only is available for $ .50 per image or text area, (maximum of two of approximately 3/4" x 3" area)

RU Libraries Merchandise SalesItems that display historic images taken from materials in Special Collections and University Archives are available for sale at the Imaging Services office at Alexander Library during hours of operation. Merchandise is also available at the Dana Library administration Office.
