Description of Collection

The Art Library holds a non-circulating collection which supports the research and instructional needs of undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, and scholars in art and architectural history, visual arts, and related programs and disciplines within Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, while also serving the New Jersey public at large. Collection fields include art, architecture, decorative arts, and historic preservation. Subject areas of particular strength include Western European art (especially Renaissance and Baroque art in Italy) and American art and architecture. Russian art and architecture holdings also form an important part of the collection. The Art Library continues to expand its holdings in African, Asian, Jewish, Islamic, and Latin American arts and the history of photography and the graphic arts in support of expanding curricular offerings.
