Chemistry Library:
Description of Collection The collection maintained in the Busch Campus Chemistry Library supports the research and educational needs in the field of chemistry for the entire Rutgers New Brunswick academic community and, to a lesser extent, related programs at the Newark and Camden campuses. The biochemical/biological chemistry area is emphasized in the collection, in addition to analytical chemistry, inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry, and physical chemistry. Chemistry is fundamental to so many other areas of science and technology that it serves as a primary information resource that supports ongoing programs in numerous other fields, such as biology, ceramic science, food science, materials science, medicine, pharmaceutical science, physics, etc. In 2001, the Chemistry Library had nearly 12,500 monographs and 24,000 bound journal volumes and held subscriptions to 196 journals or monographic series. The number of chemistry journals available online has increased rapidly in recent years, with approximately 259 chemistry titles now accessible in full text format for the university as a whole, including Chemical Abstracts (listed as SciFinder Scholar, under indexes and databases). This number is expected to continue expanding into the future. Howard Dess | |||
