About the Libraries:

Center for Research Libraries
The Rutgers University Libraries hold voting membership in the Center for Research Libraries (CRL), an international not-for-profit consortium of colleges, universities, and libraries that makes available scholarly research resources to users everywhere. The Libraries' membership gives members of the Rutgers University community access through interlibrary loan to CRL's collections. Open to scholars and researchers, CRL's outstanding collections include more than five million volumes of research materials rarely held in North American libraries. CRL collections are not represented in IRIS, the Rutgers online public access catalog. To access the CRL collections, you may search the CRL Catalog directly. The RLIN library identifier for CRL is ILRC. If you wish to request a book, journal, or other item from CRL and are eligible for interlibrary services from the Rutgers libraries, you may submit a Rutgers online interlibrary loan form by selecting Interlibrary Loan --> Request Book or Article IRIS. It is helpful if you indicate in the additional information box that the item is available from CRL. CRL has also created databases to find special resources in their collections. Databases are available for Civilian Conservation Corps camp papers, current CIS serials, foreign newspapers, and the ethnic press. CRL is creating a Foreign Doctoral Dissertations Database to provide access to its foreign doctoral dissertation collection. CRL has more than 750,000 uncataloged foreign doctoral dissertations. Over 20,000 records have been added as of March 2004. To learn more about CRL and its collections and programs, you may wish to review the CRL website http://www.crl.edu/. | |||
