Workshops on Statistical Software
Dana Library is offering introductory workshops on statistical software packages: SPSS, STATA, SAS, and R, and on mapping Census Data, using Social Explorer and PolicyMap, and Data Management. Please read the following for the workshop descriptions and registration information.
Introduction to SPSS
This class is for students who are new to SPSS. Through hands-on exercises, students will become familiar with the SPSS interface and its basic functions of managing data, doing statistical analysis and generating graphs. Students will also learn to use syntax files to generate and save analyzing procedures.

Introduction to STATA
This class is for students who are new to STATA. Through hands-on exercises, students will become familiar with the STATA interface and its basic functions of managing data, doing statistical analysis and generating graphs. Students will also learn to use Do-file Editor to write and save analyzing procedures.

Mapping Census Data
This workshop will teach you how to download Census data from American FactFinder and map the data using ArcGIS.

Using Social Explorer and PolicyMap
Rutgers Libraries recently subscribed to two online data and mapping applications: Social Explorer and PolicyMap. This workshop will teach you how to use them to extract data and generate maps.

Data Management
This workshop will introduce you to the practical strategies for data management, including topics on how to organize, document, backup, and preserve research data.
