To find a journal, magazine, or newspaper article in the most popular databases in your subject area, enter your search term(s) and choose a subject from the pull-down menu. To view a complete list of indexes and databases available at Rutgers, click on View all databases. For more information see "How Do I Find an Article?"

To find books, journals, movies, music, maps, theses, dissertations and more in the Library Catalog, enter your term(s) and select a search type in the pull-down menu. For more information see "How Do I Find a Book?"

To find a print or electronic journal in the Rutgers collections, enter its title or keywords in the title and select the appropriate search type in the pull-down menu. For more information, see "How Do I Find a Journal?"

To find audio or video material in the Rutgers collections, enter one or more keywords and select the appropriate search type in the pull-down menu. For more information, see "How do I find audio or video materials?"

To find a list of books, textbooks, and electronic articles placed on course reserve by your instructor, enter your instructor's last name and search. You can also use the pull-down menu to search by course title or number.

Electronic Books

You can search the Rutgers Library Catalog for Electronic Books:
1. Choose Advanced Search
2. Enter your search information (author, title, keyword, etc) in the appropriate fields.
3. Select Library: RU-ONLINE (Rutgers Digital Library)
4. Select Format: Books
5. Click SEARCH button
Results will be limited to electronic resources that are books. Click on the link to access the document.

How Do I find electronic books (e-books)?

E-ZBorrow from PALCI

Do you need a book  that is not available from the Rutgers Libraries (not owned, or currently unavailable)? You may request the item via EZ-BORROW. Login using your Library Barcode and Pin # and request the item from  participating libraries in the Pennsylvania Academic Library Consortium, Inc.

Journal articles are not available through this service.

Delivery and Interlibrary Loan

You may request materials not owned by they Rutgers University Libraries through Delivery and Interlibrary Loan. Login with your NETID and Password or Barocde and Password to fill out the form to request an item.

Media Bookings

Media items are kept on the New Brunswick and Newark campuses. Items may be requested for delivery to Camden via the Media Materials Booking Request Service. Faculty and graduate students may request items for preview and viewing outside of the library. All others may request items for in-library viewing only.

Instructor:
Enter their last name.

Course Name:
Enter the first few words of the name. Do not use abbreviations.

Course Number:
Enter at least the school number and the subject number.

For a better result, include the course and section numbers. (e.g., 01:350:225:01)
Note: Course number searches must include colons for punctuation.

Full Text Articles

  • Academic Search Premier
    This index provides an excellent starting point for full-text articles on general and multidisciplinary topics. Academic Search Premier allows you to limit your search to scholarly/peer-reviewed articles. Find out more on this guide to Getting Started with Academic Search Premier
  • Business Source Premier
    This is the primary business database. Many of the articles in BSP are full-text and/or full image.
  • CQ (Congressional Quarterly) Researcher
    Each week, CQ Researcher explores a single "hot" issue in the news. Every issue includes charts, graphs, a chronology, a bibliography, and a pro/con discussion relating to the topic. Highly recommended for position or opinion papers.
  • Google Scholar
    Search scholarly literature from a variety of sources. Some content is available in full text. Look for the label “Full Text @ Rutgers” (must be logged in when off campus).
  • Literature Resource Center (GALE)
    LRC is the recommended starting point for literary criticism. This full-text resource has biographical information about authors as well as criticisms of their major works.
  • PsycINFO
    PsycINFO is the primary source for psychology literature. Many of the articles in this database are available as full-text.

Items are listed by subject and alphabetically by title. A description page for each item will help you determine if it is the resource that you need.

Search across multiple databases

You can search for articles across multiple library databases. To search for journal, magazine or newspaper articles in the most popular databases, enter your search term(s) in the General Search. You may choose to search databases in your subject area by entering your search term(s) and choosing a subject from the pull-down menu.

NOTE: Not all articles found via this search are Full Text. For Full Text only, please search the individual databases that provide full text such as our frequently used databases.

Electronic Journal List

The Electronic Journal List includes journals, conference proceedings, statistical compilations, newspapers, company reports, and country profiles which form part of the many databases at Rutgers. While we strive to make all titles available in the alphabetical list, the Library Catalog should still be searched to see if other print or electronic versions are available. E-journals can also be searched and accessed electronically in the Library Catalog, by limiting your keyword, title, periodical title, or subject searches to the library RU-ONLINE.

Citation Linker

If you have the citation information for an article, try Citation Linker to look up Full Text options for the article.

Article Delivery and InterLibrary Loan

If the article you are searching for is not available in full-text electronically, you can use Interlibrary Loan and Article Delivery Services to request journal articles from any Rutgers University library.

Ethnic NewsWatch 

A full-text collection of  newspapers, magazines, and journals of the ethnic, minority, and native press. English and Spanish.

Westlaw Campus Research

"News" section indexes and provides access to full text of newspapers including New York Times, Boston Globe, Atlanta Journal and Constitution.

ProQuest Historical Newspapers:The New York Times

Provides the full image of articles published in the New York Times from its first issue in 1851.

ProQuest Historical Newspapers: Washington Post

Provides PDF images of essentially all the content published in the Washington Post from its first issue in 1877 through 1993.
