Mission Statement

The Rutgers University Libraries are an integral part of the research and instructional programs of Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey. The Libraries are a service and learning organization whose members provide leadership to the university in information literacy and scholarly communications activities. The Libraries provide access to scholarly resources that support intellectual inquiry, knowledge creation, and lifelong learning for the students and faculty of the university, the citizens of the State of New Jersey, and the broader scholarly community.

Goals at the Paul Robeson Library:

1. Developing and maintaining collections of library materials which support undergraduate and graduate instructional course work, assignments, and degree-related research on the Camden Campus. The Paul Robeson Library does not collect in the area of law.

2. Providing efficient and effective reference and information services which will allow the Camden campus community to identify and access materials within both the Paul Robeson Library, the Rutgers University Library System and throughout the world.

3. Supporting and encouraging members of the Camden Campus Community in research at all levels by identifying and providing access to materials and information wherever available.

4. Providing instruction and promoting information literacy to all members of the university and community.

5. Encouraging and facilitating the professional development of the library faculty and support staff within the Paul Robeson Library.
   
   
6. Assisting local, state, and federal officials with their information needs. To provide assistance to the business, industry, and labor communities of New Jersey.

7. As designated Federal Depository for the First Congressional District, we provide and maintain access to both Federal and New Jersey Documents for the residents of the state of New Jersey. We are also the lead county affiliate and act as a depository for Census Materials for Camden County and provide support in the use of these materials.

8. Actively participate in the governance of the Paul Robeson Library, the Rutgers University Library System and Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey. Will actively participate in the cooperative agreements under the auspices of the SJRLC.
