Periodic Pleasures: Collecting Vintage Magazines

This exhibition will showcase the historic magazines collected by Todd Hunt, professor emeritus of Rutgers’ Department of Journalism. Items on display illustrate the development of different magazine genres – children's, pulp, ladies, and men's – as well as the evolution of illustration, photography, and advertising. The exhibition will also feature chronologies of significant publications like Life magazine and a few rare items, such as a 1792 issue of The Gentleman's Magazine.

Professor Hunt, an avid reader and collector of magazines since the age of ten, will give an informal lecture at the exhibition opening on the history of this varied and vibrant medium. A reception will follow in the Hughes Room, on the 1st floor.

The exhibition will run through March 15, 2005.
