Libraries create easier remote access method;
'Old' method discontinued after August
The Rutgers University Libraries now offer a much easier way for off-campus users to access library resources. This new method for remote access allows current Rutgers students, faculty, or staff to login using their Rutgers NetID. Any Web browser can be used and no changes need to be made to the browser. Login is possible from any Libraries Web page.
Users whose browsers are configured to the 'old' remote access method will need to reconfigure their set-up in order to use the new remote access method. Off campus users, whose browsers are not configured to the old method will find the login option in a bright yellow box at the top of the left navigation bar of the Libraries Web page, underneath the Rutgers University Libraries name. Click on the "i" icon to get more information on how the new method differs from the old. The new method requires users to set their computers to "accept cookies". This allows the Libraries proxy server to keep track of all users that are logged in. These cookies are session based only and do not record any personal information about you or your Internet experiences.
The Libraries will continue to offer the current remote access method until August 22nd of this year. The old login method will no longer be available in the fall 2005 semester. For more information on this change, please see: http://www.libraries.rutgers.edu/rul/news/05/03_remote_access.shtml
