Libraries Make Major Biomedical and Engineering Database Changes:
Six Added, Three Switch Interfaces
New funding from the State of New Jersey and successful renegotiations with vendors have
allowed the Libraries to make major changes in our suite of electronic resources.
The New Jersey Knowledge Initiative has made it possible for the Libraries to add five indexes
and many new full text journals in the biomedical area to our suite of electronic resources
and to combine them robustly with an old favorite.

Knowledge Initiative Biomedical Resources.
The Libraries also added the Engineering Village 2 package of databases, which encompasses two
previously distinct databases (INSPEC and Ei Compendex Plus) and includes a new resource
(National Technical Information Service).

Knowledge Initiative Biomedical Resources
Several resources are being added:
Biomedical Reference Collection - Comprehensive
Biomedical Reference Collection: Comprehensive provides access to nearly 900
full text journals, including full text for nearly 850 peer-reviewed publications.
For more information about this resource please see
http://www.libraries.rutgers.edu/rul/indexes/search_guides/bio_ref.shtml
Nursing & Allied Health Collection: Comprehensive
The Nursing & Allied Health Collection: Comprehensive database contains nearly 400
full text journals that are indexed in CINAHL, including nearly 300 peer-reviewed
titles covering the areas of nursing, biomedicine, health sciences, consumer health
and allied health disciplines. For more information about this resource please see
http://www.libraries.rutgers.edu/rul/indexes/search_guides/nursing.shtml
Pre-CINAHL
A companion database to CINAHL, Pre-CINAHL is intended to provide current
awareness of new journal articles in the fields of nursing and allied health.
For more information about this resource please see
http://www.libraries.rutgers.edu/rul/indexes/search_guides/pre-cinahl.shtml
Your Journals@Ovid - Lippincott Williams & Wilkins High Impact Journals
Access is provided through the Journals@Ovid interface to a collection of
fifty top ranked journals published by Lippincott Williams & Wilkins.
For more information about this resource please see
http://www.libraries.rutgers.edu/rul/indexes/search_guides/ovid_journals.shtml
Medline
MEDLINE will now be offered with both the Ovid and EBSCO interfaces.
MEDLINE provides authoritative medical information about medicine, nursing,
dentistry, veterinary medicine, the health care system, pre-clinical sciences,
and much more. For more information about this resource please see
http://www.libraries.rutgers.edu/rul/indexes/search_guides/medline_ki.shtml
One resource is switching its interface:
CINAHL
CINAHL will now be offered with the EBSCO interface. It provides comprehensive coverage
of the nursing and allied health journal literature. For more information about this
resource please see
http://www.libraries.rutgers.edu/rul/indexes/search_guides/cinahl.shtml
The New Jersey Knowledge Initiative is a project of the New Jersey State Library,
supported generously by the New Jersey State Government. The Knowledge Initiative
enables institutions of higher education to purchase collectively significant science,
technology, and business databases for use by researchers and students in New Jersey.
Engineering Village
All three resources within Engineering Village 2 can be searched simultaneously or
separately:
INSPEC
The INSPEC database provides the leading English-language bibliographic access to the
world's scientific and technical literature in physics, electrical engineering, electronics,
communications, control engineering, computers, computing, and information technology.
For more information about this resource, please see
http://www.libraries.rutgers.edu/rul/indexes/search_guides/inspec.shtml
Ei Compendex Plus
Ei Compendex Plus is the most comprehensive bibliographic database of engineering
research available today, containing over eight million references and abstracts taken
from over 5,000 engineering journals, conferences and technical reports.
For more information about this resource, please see
http://www.libraries.rutgers.edu/rul/indexes/search_guides/engineering_index.shtml
National Technical Information Service (NTIS)
The NTIS database from the U.S. Department of Commerce is the premier source for
accessing unclassified reports from influential U.S. and international government
agencies. For more information about this resource, please see
http://www.libraries.rutgers.edu/rul/indexes/search_guides/ntis.shtml
