The Libraries' newest online resource will satisfy food researchers' hunger for authoritative data, one byte at a time.
Food Science and Technology Abstracts (FSTA) is the premiere resource for all aspects of food science including biotechnology, food safety, functional and novel foods, food additives, nutrition, and packaging. There are over 655,000 records in the database with over 2000 new abstracts added every month. The database is international in scope and covers over 1800 resources on food science such as journals, books, and conference proceedings. FSTA provides access to materials from over 90 countries and representing almost 40 different languages.
FSTA provides for quick searching by subject, keyword, advanced search option, and the ability to combine search statements. As FSTA is produced in Great Britain, users may need to use British spellings and terms in their searching (Ex. use "biscuits" when searching for "cookies"). The Libraries' three year subscription to FSTA is supported through a USDA/CREES Higher Education Challenge Grant.
