Budget cuts impact on Libraries technical services

The Libraries' Technical and Automated Services have implemented three significant changes that affect our users, due to the severe New Jersey State 2006/2007 budget cuts to Rutgers.

1. The Library systems department will no longer provide 24 hours/7 days a week support for library systems and will move to a cell phone coverage system for nights and weekends. In the event of system failure during non-business hours, recovery efforts and anticipated restoration of service will move from immediate response to 3.5 hours.

2. Turnaround time for books, from ordering to placing on the library's shelves, will increase from two weeks to one month.

3. Turnaround time for patron requests from faculty, to purchase books or expedite delivery, will increase from 48 hours to two weeks.

We regret if these changes inconvenience our users.
