Lives and Works: Talks with Women Artists - exhibition opening April 11th

The Art Library invites the Rutgers community and the general public to the opening reception for "Lives and Works: Talks with Women Artists," an exhibition of mixed media portraits of women artists by Joan Arbeiter. The reception will be held on Friday, April 11, 2008 from 5:30-7:30 p.m.

This portrait series was inspired by the book Lives and Works: Talks with Women Artists Volume 2, co- authored by Beryl Smith, Sally Swenson, and Joan Arbeiter, and published by Scarecrow Press in 1996. The portrait sketches represent a selection of trailblazing feminist artists who made significant contributions to twentieth-century American art. This book emerges from interviews with selected artists who originally exhibited in the Mary H. Dana Women Artist's Series.

For more information on this exhibition, please call Rutgers art librarian Sara Harrington at 732/932-7189.
