Dana Library tech leader elected to HS alumni hall of fame
The Libraries congratulate Bob Nahory, digital applications developer at the Institute of Jazz Studies in the John Cotton Dana Library, who was selected to be a member of the McKeesport, PA High School Hall of Fame. Nahory, with six other alumni accorded the same tribute, was honored at a recognition banquet held by the school on October 9th.
Nahory worked for decades at AT&T Bell Laboratories in New Jersey, conducting research on fiber-optic cables and their use in data communications. He published over 150 scientific papers and holds numerous patents. His work contributed to the cable and Internet networks we all benefit from today.
Currently Nahory oversees digital preservation of the varied holdings in the Institute of Jazz Studies, the largest repository of jazz music, journals, books, and artifacts in the world. He also conducts outreach activities and science workshops for teachers and children in K-12 classrooms throughout New Jersey.
