Professors' Oriental Abstract World: Exhibit opening, in Art Library, Fri. Dec. 10th
The Libraries invite you to attend the opening reception for the
exhibition, "Professors' Oriental Abstract World," on Friday December
10th in the Art Library. The reception will begin at 6:00 pm.
The "Professors' Oriental Abstract World" exhibit will feature the
Chinese brush calligraphy and painting artworks of two university
professors in New Jersey.
Zhiyuan Cong is a professor and the director of the Center for
Chinese Art at William Paterson University. His work has been featured
in exhibitions in the United Nations, Indianapolis Museum of Art, the
New Jersey State Museum, the Newark Museum, the Montclair Art Museum,
McDonough Museum of Art in Ohio, Elizabeth Wang Gallery in New York,
Fine Art Gallery of Lane Community College in Oregon, and the National
Art Museum in Beijing, China. He has conducted art demonstrations and
lectures at the Chicago Art Institute, Princeton University, University
of California-Berkley, and the University of Oregon. To review samples

Yi-Zhi Huang is a mathematics professor at Rutgers University. He is a
third generation calligrapher and has been refining his craft since he
was eight years old. He has presented lectures and demonstrations on
calligraphy in noted venues in Shanghai, China, New Jersey, and New
York. His artworks have been exhibited in mainland China, Taiwan, Hong

The opening reception will include demonstrations by both artists and a
21-string Zither music performance, presented by the Yang Yi Guzheng
Academy. The reception is cosponsored by the Asian American Cultural Center with
assistance from International Faculty and Student Center at Rutgers
University.
The "Professors' Oriental Abstract World" exhibit will run December 10,
2010 - June 30, 2011 in the Art Library. The Art Library is located next
to Voorhees Hall, at 71 Hamilton Street in New Brunswick, on Rutgers'
College Avenue Campus.
