To increase the amount of space available for art books and publications, the Art Library will be removing the lower level book stacks and installing compact
shelving units. This renovation project will begin on Wednesday January 2, 2013 with a projected end date of February 20, 2013.
Due to the renovation there will be a significant level of noise in the library. In an effort to limit the disruption of library services and usage, the
library has asked construction crews to conduct drilling only in the early morning hours, before 10:00 am. Additionally all renovation work in the building
will end daily by 4:00 pm, leaving the late afternoons, weeknights, and the entire weekends noise free.
There will also be decreased access to books on the lower level stacks during the renovation. Users seeking access to books stored in that area are asked to
select the "Item Special Request" button, in the online Library Catalog, and choose "Art Library" as their pick up location. The item will then be retrieved
by a library staff person. Users can also place a request for a book with a staff person at the circulation desk, on the main floor. All items requested will
be available at the Art Library circulation desk within one - two business days.
Another effect of the renovation will be a reduced amount of study space on the lower level. The main and upper levels will be unaffected.
