NEW ScienceDirect Offers 1000+ Journals

The Libraries are pleased to announce the acquisition of ScienceDirect, a powerful new package for students and scholars in the natural and social sciences.

ScienceDirect, the electronic science journal package from Elsevier Science provides access to more than 1000 periodicals (over 1,100,000 articles) from 1995 to present. Included in ScienceDirect's holdings are the following fields: Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Materials Science, Engineering and Technology, Environmental Science, Economics, Business and Management Science, Neuroscience, Pharmacology and Toxicology, Physics, Mathematics and Computer Science, Earth Sciences, Social Sciences, Biochemistry, Microbiology and Immunology, and Clinical Medicine. The full-text/full-image articles (PDF version) are available from any Rutgers workstation as well as to remote users registered as Rutgers faculty, staff or students.

The Rutgers University Libraries joined 16 other members of the NorthEast Research Libraries Consortium (NERL) to acquire electronic access to 1,028 unique Elsevier journal titles through ScienceDirect. The 1,028 NERL titles represent 615 more titles than the Libraries currently subscribe to in print. The contract also allows the Libraries to view and copy each year over 8,000 articles that are in journals available in ScienceDirect but not currently subscribed to by NERL members, about 100 additional titles.

Users can access ScienceDirect journals from the front page of the Libraries website, either through IRIS or by following the path Indexes / Multidisciplinary / Journals.
