World News NOW at Rutgers Libraries
The Libraries latest online acquisition brings our users news from around the world.
World News Connection (WNC) is an online news service that offers an array of translated and English- language news and information, provided to the National Technical Information Service (NTIS) from the Foreign Broadcast Information Service (FBIS). This information is obtained from full text and summaries of newspaper articles, conference proceedings, television and radio broadcasts, periodicals, and non- classified technical reports. Particularly effective in its coverage of local media sources, WNC covers significant socioeconomic, political, scientific, technical, and environmental issues and events.
New information is entered into WNC every government business day. Generally, this information is available within 24-72 hours from the time of original publication or broadcast. Regional categories covered include: Central Eurasia, China, East Asia, Near East & South Asia, East Europe, West Europe, Latin America, and Sub-Saharan Africa.
Users can access World News Connection from the frontpage of the Libraries website, either through IRIS or by following the path Indexes & Databases / Social Sciences & Law / Political Science, OR Indexes & Databases / General & Multidisciplinary / Current Events and Newspapers
