NEW Gov't Periodicals Universe The Libraries new acquisition, CIS’ Government Periodicals Universe, is an online index to articles in roughly 280 of the U.S. government’s most important magazines and journals. Most of the titles indexed have been made available at various Rutgers University Libraries through the federal depository library program with holdings reflected in IRIS, the libraries’ online catalog. The index provides retrospective coverage as far back as 1988. The database is updated quarterly. From 1970 to 1993, indexing is available in the print equivalent Index to U.S. Government Periodicals which is available in various Rutgers’ libraries. Since 1993 it also overlaps with the successor U.S. Government Periodicals Index also published in print. Consult IRIS for holdings. Indexing in Government Periodicals Universe is available by keyword, subject, title, author, and agency. GPU uses the same basic searching interface as other CIS/Lexis-Nexis products. A help screen is provided by the vendor.
Users may access Government Periodicals Universe from the frontpage of the
