Temporary Changes in IRIS -
Search-Only, Aug. 15-22nd, 2002; Unavailable Thur. morn., Aug. 15th and Fri. morn. Aug 23rd
While the Libraries perform annual maintenance on the IRIS database files and implement a new self-service hold feature, IRIS will be available in a static, search-only version August 15-22. Users will still be able to search as usual, link to electronic resources, look up reserve items, and checkout circulating materials.
Some features, such as online Interlibrary Loan and the Rutgers Request Service (RRS) will not be available. RRS requests for delivery of items from among the three main Rutgers campuses and the Annex may be submitted on site at any Rutgers library using paper forms available at the circulation desk. Paper forms will also be available for interlibrary loan requests.
During this period users will be able to search and display information in their "self services" accounts but will not be able to renew their checkouts or change their PIN numbers. Items checked out between August 15 - 22 will not appear in users "self services" accounts. Users can learn their existing barcode and PIN by calling or visiting the circulation desk of any Rutgers library or by sending email to our Ask A Librarian service, which is accessible from the frontpage of the Libraries website.
Library Systems will install the static, search-only system of IRIS between 10:15 p.m., August 14 through 12:00 p.m., August 15th. As a result, there will be no access to IRIS during this period. Systems expects to return IRIS to full service by Friday, August 23.
Library Systems will need about four hours to reconfigure IRIS back to full service on Friday, August 23. If all goes as planned, IRIS will be down from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on that day as well to accommodate the tasks associated with the reconfiguration.
We are sorry for any inconvenience this present to our users.
