NEW! World Biographical Index

With the latest Libraries acquisition, researchers can determine who’s who in a variety of places all over the world.

The World Biographical Index online is based on the CD-ROM edition of the World Biographical Index. This database provides unified indexing for the following K.G. Saur biographical archives, which include more than 5,300 individual biographical sources:

  • African Biographical Archive
  • American Biographical Archive
  • Archives Biographiques Françaises
  • Archivio Biografico Italiano
  • Archivo Biográfico de España, Portugal e Iberoamérica
  • Australasian Biographical Archive
  • Baltisches Biographisches Archiv
  • Biografisch Archief van de Benelux
  • Biographisches Archiv der Antike
  • British Biographical Archive
  • Chinese Biographical Archive
  • Deutsches Biographisches Archiv
  • Indian Biographical Archive
  • Jüdisches Biographisches Archiv
  • Polskie Archiwum Biograficzne
  • Russisches Biographisches Archiv
  • Scandinavian Biographical Archive

Searchable by name, occupation, or date, this index also includes very brief biographical entries for eminent individuals who lived in North and South America, Western and Central Europe, Africa, Australia, New Zealand, and Oceania. Each entry includes the name, variations of the name, pseudonyms, the years of birth and death or years mentioned, occupation, archive fiche number and page, and bibliographic information about the original sources.

Library patrons can access the index from the front page of the Rutgers University Libraries website, either through IRIS or by following one of the following paths from the Indexes and Databases Web page:
