Jazz Research Roundtables
Summer - Fall 2003 Schedule

The Institute of Jazz Studies, in conjunction with the Rutgers-Newark Dept. of Visual and Performing Arts, invites members of the public to attend one or more sessions of this semester’s Jazz Research Roundtable. Sessions will feature the following speakers, who will address the topics indicated:

  • July 17: Christopher Meeder: Cecil Taylor
  • August: no meeting
  • September 18: Sam Stephenson: Jazz Loft Tapes of Eugene Smith
  • October 16: Sam Miller: Hank Mobley
  • November 12: David G. Berger: Keeping Time: The Life, Music, & Photographs of Milt Hinton (film showing and discussion)
  • December 11: Randy Sandke: The Mythology of Jazz

All programs are free and open to the public, and will take place Thursday evenings from 7 to 9 pm in the Dana Room, on the 4th floor of the John Cotton Dana Library (Rutgers University, 185 University Ave., Newark, NJ).
