Libraries Cosponsor Lecture on Digital Libraries
The Rutgers University Libraries are cosponsoring a lecture on "Digital Libraries: Past, Present, and Future" by Professor Christine L. Borgman, recipient of the seventeenth annual Distinguished Lectureship Award of the New Jersey Chapter of the American Society for Information Science (NJ/ASIS&T), on Monday September 22nd. Professor Borgman holds the Presidential Chair in Information Studies at the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) and is a Professor in the UCLA Department of Information Studies and in the Communication Studies Program.
The lecture will take place from 3:00-4:30 pm, in the Scholarly Communication Center, Alexander Library (3rd floor), College Avenue Campus. The talk will provide an overview of digital libraries, including the competing definitions of the term, and address how they developed, discuss current issues of research and practice, and highlight emerging issues and trends. An informal reception will follow. An evening dinner and distinguished lectureship award program will take place in Trayes Hall B, Douglass College Student Center, Douglass Campus.
