What is RefWorks?RefWorks is a Web-based bibliography and database manager that enables you to:
How do I get an account on RefWorks?If you are currently affiliated with Rutgers University as student, faculty, or staff, you are eligible to use RefWorks. Start at the Rutgers Refworks Account Creation page and enter your NetID and password. If you do not have a NetID, you can get one at http://rucs.rutgers.edu/accounts. If you don't remember your NetID, you may look it up using NetID Query.

How do I access the full text of citations in my RefWorks account?On-campusWhen using your RefWorks account on campus, full text resources that are available from Rutgers University Libraries-subscribed databases or electronic journals will be automatically accessible via Article Linker. If your citation does not include the Article Linker button, please check the Library Catalog. It is possible that the Libraries may own the material in print or other formats. Off-campusAs long as you are logged into the library with your NetID and you connect to RefWorks from this page, you will be able to access full text resources linked from RefWorks that are available from the Libraries-subscribed databases or electronic journals. If your citation does not include the Article Linker button, please check the Library Catalog. It is possible that the Libraries may own the material in print or other formats. Where can I find more online help?Quick Start Guides in several languages as well as a lengthy FAQ (frequently asked questions) are available in PDF format. You can also contact the RefWorks Corporation for help by email: support@refworks.com Who will provide training on campus?New Brunswick faculty and staff should contact the Center for Teaching Advancement and Assessment Research, which offers Workshops and Seminars throughout the year. Graduate assistants and teaching assistants should contact the Teaching Assistant Project. Other New Brunswick students should contact the Learning Centers. Camden faculty and staff should contact Instructional Design & Technology. Business faculty, staff, and students in Newark and New Brunswick should contact Rutgers Business School Computing Services. What online databases work with RefWorks?Many of our databases have the Direct Export feature available for saving citations and abstracts to a bibliographic manager. For step-by-step instructions for specfic database publishers such as CSA, EBSCOhost, or Ovid, please consult Exporting from a Data Service. Note: If your Internet browser is set to block pop-ups, then this preference will have to be disabled in order for Direct Export to RefWorks to work properly. Citations and abstracts from most databases (including those with the Direct Export feature) can also be added to your RefWorks account using "Import Filters." Please refer to the Import Filter List of publishers and their databases. Basic instructions are available for Importing References from most databases.

Will the Library Catalog work with RefWorks?The Library Catalog records can be marked and then exported directly into your RefWorks account. Instructions are available in the Marked Items section of the the Library Catalog guide.

What stylesheets are available?RefWorks supports hundreds of "output styles" or stylesheets for formatting bibliographies including APA, MLA, Chicago, and Turabian. A complete list of styles is available on the Output Style List. What is Write-N-Cite?Write-N-Cite is a Microsoft Word add-on utility that allows users to run an abbreviated version of RefWorks and cite references while typing a document. To use Write-N-Cite with RefWorks you must download and install a small utility program to your computer. To configure Write-N-Cite for use from off-campus, follow these set-up instructions for your computer: Windows Users:
