Art Auction Catalogues in the Art Library

The following list of art auction catalogues represents part of the art auction catalog holdings of the Rutgers University Libraries, which are housed at the Art Library. This finding aid is organized in the following fashion. The catalogs are divided alphabetically by auction house (i.e., Christie's, Loudmer, Sotheby's), and within each auction house, alphabetically by location (i.e., Sotheby's Los Angeles, Sotheby's New York, etc.). Within each geographical sub-location, catalogs are listed in chronological order according to the date of the sale. Patrons should note that art auction catalogues acquired by Rutgers have been catalogued in two distinct manners. Art auction catalogues received before June 1998 have individual records in IRIS. Art auction catalogues received after June 1998 are contained in this finding aid, which is attached to an IRIS record. It is important to note that this division reflects the ACQUISITION date by Rutgers, rather than the AUCTION SALE date. Patrons are therefore advised to check both IRIS and this collection-level finding aid for catalogues of interest to them. Please contact the Art Librarian, Sara Harrington, at saraharr@rci.rutgers.edu with any questions.
