The Martin and Harriet Diamond Collection of American Art Collection DescriptionThe Martin and Harriet Diamond Collection of American Art is an important collection of materials related to American art. Much of the collection focuses on the period between 1900 and 1950, and in particular on early American modernists, including members of the American Abstract Artists and the Transcendental Painting Group. The collection contains original works of art, rare serial holdings, hard to find monographs examining artists and art movements, archival material relating to artists and art organizations, and ephemeral exhibition catalogs. Different parts of the collection are held in The Rutgers University Art Library, the Alexander Library, Special Collections and University Archives, and The Jane Voorhees Zimmerli Art Museum. Collection ContentsMany of the items in the Diamond Collection are catalogued in the Library Catalog. To browse a partial list of the contents of the collection, open the Library Catalog, at the simple search screen type "Martin Diamond" in search box, and click "Search Everything." With the exception of a few false hits, the items in the list are part of the Diamond Collection. The Diamond Vertical Files of American Art Exhibition Catalogues. The Diamond Collection includes a significant number of hard to find ephemeral exhibition catalogues, which are housed at the Art Library. The exhibition catalogues represent small scale and lesser-known exhibitions by the artists. Bibliographic citations for the individual catalogues are listed in the finding aid, which is organized by artist or organization name.
