How Do I Use SCIPIO: Art and Rare Book Sales Catalogs ?
- To use Scipio, visit the homepage of the Rutgers University Libraries at
http://www.libraries.rutgers.edu
Click on "Indexes and Databases."
Click "Arts and Humanities," then "Art" and then "Scipio: Art and Rare Book Sales Catalogs".
Or, use the "By Title," list to choose "SCIPIO."
At the next screen, click "Connect."
- The search screen will appear. Make sure "Scipio" is chosen in the "Search in Database"
dropdown menu. In "Basic Search" you may search by Keyword, Auction House, Date of Sale, Sale
Code, Title of Catalog, and Year.
- Perhaps the simplest way to get started is to search by keyword.
In order to search by keyword, develop a few keyword and keyword combinations that
describe your topic. Enter your keywords or keyword combinations (using the word "and"
between terms.)
- A list of records for your search will appear with the auction description highlighted,
followed by auction house, date of sale, publication, document, and libraries worldwide that
contain this item.
- Click on the title to view the detailed record including search for article link, auction
house, date of sale, and other bibliographic information.
- Click on a checkbox to mark a record to be e-mailed or printed through "Marked Records."
- If an item is not available in our library, you may request it through
interlibrary loan. Please note that it may take up to two weeks to receive an
interlibrary loan. To order an interlibrary loan and fill out the appropriate
form with full citation information.
