Citing Electronic Sources

Online! Citation Styles
This chapter from Online! A Reference Guide to Using Internet Sources by Andrew Harnack and Eugene Kleppinger, representsguidelines for citing Internet sources are based on the principles presented in the fourteenth edition of The Chicago Manual of Style.

The Chicago Manual of Style Online
The official site for The Chicago Manual of Style offers a Quick Guide with examples for citing electronic sources. The Manual itself is only available with a subscription.

"Notes for Contributors," in Art Bulletin (most recently September 1992) explains the style used for that publication, which is also the style used frequently by faculty in the Art History Department.

The Art Bulletin Style Sheet is searchable electronically. A paper copy is kept at the Reference Desk, filed under Art Bulletin Style Sheet.

For assistance with the principles of good writing, in general, when the books are not handy, try Professor Charles Darling's, Guide to Grammar and Writing.

In other Rutgers Libraries:

Strunk, William. Elements of Style.
New York: Macmillan.
Various editions and reprints of this classic guide to writing can be found throughout the Rutgers Library System. Some copies may be circulated from the Douglass and Alexander Libraries.
