The following sources provide access to cinema studies
periodical literature. Some resources provide bibliographic citations
only, some provide full text, and some provide a combination of both.
Electronic Indexes and Databases
Academic Search Premier [Rutgers Restricted]
A large multidisciplinary database that covers most academic topics,
including cinema studies. Bibliographic citations; many full text articles.
Search tip: Academic Search Premier uses Library of Congress
Subject Headings. Choose "Guided Search" from the menu on
the main page, enter a heading from the Searching IRIS page of this
guide, and select "Subject" from the pull-down menu the right
of the search box. Check the "Peer Reviewed" box to limit
searching to academic sources.
America History and Life [Rutgers Restricted]
Some coverage of the history of American film and the American film
industry. Bibliographic records; some links to full text in JSTOR.

ARTbibliographies Modern [Rutgers Restricted]
Indexes periodicals, books, dissertations and other publications on the visual arts. Coverage from the beginning of modernism through the present. Some coverage of film and cinematography. Bibliographic records and abstracts, no full text.
Arts and Humanities Citations Index (part of Web of Science) [Rutgers Restricted]
One component of the Web of Science database. Indexes many film journals.
Can be searched either for bibliographic information or cited references
(i.e. articles that cite a specific author or work).
FIAF International FilmArchive Database [Rutgers Restricted]
Historical Abstracts [Rutgers Restricted]
World history companion index to the America History and Life index
(see above). Some coverage of the history of film and the film industry.

Indexes many major cinema studies periodicals, as well as culture
studies periodicals, dissertations, and articles in critical anthologies.
Always worth checking. Bibliographic references; no full text.

The single most important source for periodical literature on film and
film studies. Began publication in 1973. Issued quarterly and in bound
annual volumes. Indexes about 300 publications. Two separate sections
- one for film, one for television - each with a single alphabetical list
of subjects, titles, corporate bodies, reviewers and authors.
