Communication, Journalism and Media Studies Resources
This research guide presents selected information sources both from the Rutgers collection and from the
Internet sources. Students and faculty are encouraged to search the university's online catalog
IRIS and

The field of communication is not only multidiscplinary but is also comprised of many sub-fields such as
interpersonal, intercultural, non-verbal and organizational communications, telecommunications, public
relations, public policy planning and development of public information systems and so on. Depending on
the sub-field you may be using sources from a wide variety of disciplines; for example, research on
intercultural communication may require materials from sociology, anthropology, psychology and so on.
Among the Rutgers libraries, the
Alexander Library
located on College Avenue campus in New Brunswick
houses the main research collection that supports the fields of communication, journalism,
and media studies.
