Allied and Multidisciplinary Databases

Academic Search Premier [Rutgers-restricted Access]
Varies by source, but generally from 1996-
A multi-discipline, full-text database of 3,200 scholarly publications as well as abstracts and indexing for over 4,170 scholarly journals with some dating back to 1984. A valuable and large collection of peer-reviewed full text journals for nearly all academic areas of study.
From 1996 - present Communication Abstracts is also available in Academic Search Premier

Business Source Premier [Rutgers-restricted Access]
1971-
Covers most business and management topics including accounting, banking, economics, finance, international trade, marketing, and public administration. It contains the full-text (or abstracts) of articles from thousands of scholarly and professional publications, academic journals, and trade magazines. This database also includes profiles of the world's 10,000 largest companies, reports for over two thousand industry sectors, and hundreds of country risk and economic reports.

Dissertations and Theses [Rutgers-restricted Access]
The database includes citations for materials ranging from the first U.S. dissertation, accepted in 1861, to those accepted as recently as last semester

ERIC (Educational Resources Information Center). [Rutgers-restricted Access]
1965-
This is primarily an education database (perhaps one of the largest social science databases) that includes a large number of entries on topics related to the study of education and media

Ethnic NewsWatch [Rutgers-restricted Access]
A full-text collection of approximately 200 newspapers, magazines, and journals of the ethnic, minority, and native press. Over 400,000 complete articles dating back to 1960, in English and Spanish.

Factiva [Rutgers-restricted Access]
A vast archive of the world's most important publications, reports and news, focusing on business.  Search for articles on any subject in the full text of 6,000 leading business  newspapers, magazines, trade journals and newsletters and television and radio transcripts.
Please note: full text newspapers including Star Ledger.

LLBA; Linguistics and Language Behavior Abstracts [Rutgers-restricted Access]
La Jolla, Calif., Sociological Abstracts, inc. 1967-

This database covers all aspects and use of language. Includes topics on discourse analysis/text linguistics, interpersonal behaviors and communication semantics etc.

PAIS International and Archive [Rutgers-restricted Access]
1972-
A bibliographic index with abstracts covering the full range of political, social, and public policy issues. Topics covered include economic, political, and social issues, business, finance, law, international trade and relations, public administration, government, political science, and any topics that are or might become the subject of legislation.

PsychINFO [Rutgers-restricted Access]
1887-
The PsycINFO and PsycLIT databases cover the professional and academic literature in psychology and related disciplines including medicine, psychiatry, nursing, sociology, education, pharmacology, physiology, linguistics, and other areas. Useful for interpersonal communication.

Sociological Abstracts [Rutgers-restricted Access]
A premier online resource for researchers, professionals and students in sociology and related disciplines.

SOSIG
Available online via Social Science Information Gateway, part of UK Resource Discovery Network.
Fully searchable Social Science Information Gateway of international Internet resources in the various disciplines. Includes newly published journal articles, working papers, pre-print articles, bibliographic databases, and web searches.

Tablebase [Rutgers-restricted Access]
This database specializes in tabular data in companies, industries, products, and demographics. Includes media and entertainment industry trends and analysis and source literature on television ratings of selected TV shows etc.

Web of Science [Rutgers-restricted Access]
The Web of Science is an enhanced web version of the Institute for Scientific Information's citation indexes, including the Science Citation Index, the Social Sciences Citation Index, and the Arts and Humanities Citation Index.

World News Connection [Rutgers-restricted Access]
An online news service that offers an array of translated and English-language news and information, provided to the National Technical Information Service (NTIS) from the Foreign Broadcast Information Service (FBIS). Particularly effective in its coverage of local media sources, WNC covers significant socioeconomic, political, scientific, techincal, and environmental issues and events. New information is entered into WNC every government business day.
FBIS Publications (Foreign Broadcast Information Service Publications) July 1996 is also available in ALEX DOCUS-COM at Workstation 1. This is the CD-ROM version of FBIS daily reports, JPRS reports, FBIS analysis and other FBIS products; absorbed FBIS and JPRS reports in 1996.
