Economics Indexes

Caveats/Comments:

  • This page lists searchable resources that index publications and data in economics. Emphasis is placed on resources that index a broad range of information. More specific sources of information are listed on the Data and Text Resources page.
  • For more extensive links from a business perspective (accounting, finance, company research, etc.), consult the Business Research Guide.
  • Government publications are often a rich source for economic data and analysis. Check the Government Information Resources page for more information.
  • Additional data resources are listed in the Numeric and GIS Data Guide. You may also want to consult the Data Services page and the RutgersData blog for further leads to data at Rutgers.

Books

Use the links below to locate monographs (books), and other material such as computers files, electronic databases, videos, and journal holdings at the title level. For journal articles, see the next section. While Rutgers should be your first stop for book searching, our collection is only of moderate size and has gaps. Using other catalogs to locate material, and requesting them through Interlibrary Loan or E-ZBorrow will ensure that you are finding all the relevant resources.

  • IRIS is the catalog of the Rutgers University Libraries. Search here for books, electronic databases, media, computer files, and journals across all of our locations. Over 4 million items. Use IRIS to request delivery of material from other libraries at Rutgers, or material that has been checked out. Also, request free electronic delivery of journal articles.
  • E-ZBorrow lets you locate and request material in regional libraries, with delivery times of about a week
  • WorldCat is the largest combined database of research libraries worldwide. Also available via free interface.
  • Library of Congress holds a comprehensive collection of books published in the United States plus large international and multimedia collections. Over 32 million books.

Working Papers

Working papers report research findings well in advance of formal publication. Working papers are published by research organizations such as the NBER and CEPR, as well as by academic departments and nongovernmental organizations. The links below should help you to locate working papers available electronically. For sites not listed here, try EDIRC, a directory of economics institutes and research centers, or the Organizations page.
