Commercial Education Sites
The sites listed below demonstrate the diversity of materials available for application in the
classroom. Many feature ways to run schools efficiently (teacher and administrator tools), as
well as specific curriculum offerings. The main advantage of the services is that each offers
access to computer-compatible instruction. Materials are prepared according to subject
standards [be sure to examine that as a quality factor for each item.) For teachers who wish to
integrate technology with curriculum, this is one option; one that needs district support. Some
sites feature thirty-day free trials, a good way to examine the services and see if they fit
school districts that are possible work environments. Many of these services "buy" aspects of
their offerings from smaller groups and acquire images, text, and plans from primary sources.
Be aware of the expense involved, as well as the strengths and "to be improved" aspects of each
sites.
