Curriculum Materials & Lesson Plans

Curriculum guides, subject-classified lesson plan archives and specific lesson plan areas are included from government, and non-profit sites. Commercial sites offer lesson plans with specific features (TV connections, sponsors, etc.): Commercial Education Sites. ERIC - Educational Resources Information Center [OVID]
Use The ERIC Thesaurus to find subject terms. The Thesaurus is located within the listing under "Tools". You will find lesson plans and curriculum guides in the database. The government sponsored http://www.eric.ed.gov ERIC site has more recent information, including 2004-2005 PDFs that include curriculum guides.

Big 6 Newsletter: Mike Eisenburg's Big Six Research Skills newsletter
Mike developed the concept of Big Six: A set of information literacy skills, with training methods used in K-12. These skills are: Task Definition, Information Seeking Strategies, Location and Access, Use of Information, Synthesis, and Evaluation. This newsletter offers many examples of the concepts in operation, has lesson plans and ideas for teachers.

FEMA for Kids. Federal Emergency Management Agency
"This site teaches you how to be prepared for disasters and prevent disaster damage. You can also learn what causes disasters, play games, read stories and become a Disaster Action Kid. And don't forget to learn about FEMA." You can look up disasters that have happened in each state!
