A Library Quick Guide

This guide is intended to help you get started in your search for information on Engineering at the Library of Science and Medicine (LSM). Also consult the Library Quick Guides prepared for the specialized subject fields of engineering. For further information on our resources or guidance on searching a specific topic, please consult a Reference Librarian.

ABSTRACTS AND INDEXES will tell you what periodical articles have been written on a subject or what a particular author has written and lead you to the most up-to-date research on a subject. Abstracts and Indexes at LSM are found in the Reference Periodicals Section on the 1st floor of the library, and are identified by the notation REF PER on their Call Number. Some of the abstracts and indexes that will help you find.

Engineering information at LSM are:

REF PER T1.A6Applied Science and Technology Full Text
REF PER TA1.E62Ei Compendex*Plus

PERIODICALS: LSM carries an extensive collection of periodicals in Engineering. Most LSM periodicals are shelved alphabetically by title on the 3rd floor. Some periodical series, such as Advances in Biochemical Engineering are catalogued as books. For information on these, consult the books database on IRIS, the online catalog.

INTERNET SOURCES: Most of the university libraries provide access to various INTERNET sources for engineering information through their "HomePages". The following are addresses of some such "Home Pages" that provide access to information on Engineering. These sites can be accessed through INFO. The addresses (URL) of the INTERNET Web sites are denoted with notation " http://--------------/ ".
