Directories

  • Universities Water Information Network Provides directories to experts, consulting firms and water-related organizations.
  • The Catalog of Long-Term Ecological Data This catalog lists all the agencies contributing to the FLED, Long-term ecological data project. The summaries,contents and recommendations from the agencies are all available full-text in this catalog.
  • Directory of Assistance Centers of the National Water Data Exchange (NAWDEX) Provides the user with all the names, addresses, locations of both the centers and personnel partaking in the National Water Data Exchange. The network of centers extends throughout the United States and Puerto Rico. It is arranged by state, but can be searched by fields other than the center's name.
  • Minerals Yearbooks
  • World Resources: A Guide to the Global Environment An important, primary resource on global environmental and natural resource conditions and trends for the United Nations, World Bank, and related international organizations. The online version is easy to use, authoritative and exhaustive. The text is hyperlinked to tables and references. The tables and references alone are a gold mine of information.

Reports and Monographs

  • Council for Agricultural Science and Technology (CAST) The title for the web site is The Science Source for Food, Agricultural and Environmental Issues. CAST is a nonprofit organization composed of scientists from the academic and research communities. The reports vary in length from news brief to lengthy reports. The material reflects the membership, it is high quality, value-added links wherever applicable. Agricultural material is well represented. Good links to other environmental sites, especially government related.
  • Climate of 1998 National Climatic Data Center (NOAA). The first paragraph starts with "Annual Review Global temperatures in 1998 were the warmest in the past 119 years, since reliable instrument records began. The previous record was set in 1997"
  • Congressional Research Service Reports This site has numerous full-text reports under the subject heading "Environment/Natural Resources"
  • National Academy Press The NAP publishes reports and books from the National Academy of Sciences, the National Academy of Engineering, the Institute of Medicine and the National Research Council. Hundreds and hundreds of well researched publications are available full-text. There is a section devoted to environmental titles.
  • Issues From the Ecological Society of America. Important issues provided in report form from the ESA. Easy to read, easy to access! These are reports written by reputable scientists and peer reviewed.
  • Energy Information Administration The EIA issues annual sector summaries such as the Uranium Industry Annual and The World Nuclear Outlook.
  • EPA - Economy and the Environment This is the Environmental Protection Agency's site for reports dealing mainly with cost/benefit analysis of environmental projects. The reports are available in fulltext and can be downloaded using Adobe Acrobat software. Annual reports are also included.
  • European Environmental Law Full text documents (cases and legislation) on the European Community Environmental Law.
  • European Nuclear Society This society operates NUCNET, the World's Nuclear News Agency. This service compiles the full-text press releases and articles which deal with the nuclear power industry
  • The Food Summit This site (FAO)provides the official conference documents, as well as press releases, tutorials, position papers from other governments.
  • Global Warming Central Pace University's collection of sites that list speeches, treaties, and conference summaries on global warming.
  • The International Conference on Population and Development in Cairo, 1994
  • International Programme on Chemical Safety (IPCS) These fulltext documents are relevant to those involved in chemical safety and their management and safekeeping. The site contains thousands of documents with special attention to meeting the standards of the UNCED committments.
  • Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory Some twenty thousand full-text reports from LLNL's own archive.
  • Lawrence Liverore National Laboratory. Annual Reports for Laboratory Programs and Projects
  • National Research Council The NRC provides detailed information about the design, management ad regulatory status of individual reactors. The Nuclear Plant Information Book details specific reactor information. There are also reports available on the governments position papers dealing with radioactive waste.
  • PIRG Publications and Reports Online reports from the Public Interest Research Group national office - category listings.
  • Trade Environmental Database (TED) The School of International Service at American University offers this site to those interested in the environment and how trade affects and is affected by international trade. The reports deal with specific cases and can be located by either using the index system or a search engine.
  • Upstream: Salmon and society in the Pacific Northwest A National Research Council report.
  • U.S. Department of Agriculture. Forest Service. Publications
  • U.S. Geological Survey On-Line Reports The USGS is building a permanent site for online reports. These numbered series reports are not all of environmental relevancy. Nevertheless, this site will contain many of the earth and environmental numbered reports, they are full-text.
  • World Population Profile: 1996 The U.S. Census Bureau's International Programs Center's excellent compendium and anyalysis of data on population, fertility, mortality, contraceptive use, and related demographic topics.
  • World Wildlife Fund 1998 Annual Report
  • The Yucca Mountain Project This site offers up-to-date information about the status of and plans for the high-level nuclear waste repository to be built below the mountain. There is a full-text copy of the environmental impact statement as well as the press releases. Graphics of the mountain project can be found at this site as well.
