A Selective Guide of HIV/AIDS Resources

- AIDS Clinical Trials Information Service (ACTIS)
- Most current information on clinical trials for persons with HIV/AIDS is
provided. ACTIS is a Public Health Service sponsored by the CDC, FDA,
NLM and NIIAD. This web site also links to NLM's AIDS related databases
and other valuable resources.
- AIDS Treatment Data Network
- This excellent organization provides AIDS resources and treatment options in the New York City
area and beyond. It also provides counseling in English and Spanish.
- The Body: A Service of Body Health Resources Corporation
- Similar to many web sites, many aspects of the disease are included
here. The unique feature of this web site however is that it represents
a compilation of HIV/AIDS information from many organizations, and
provides for the exchange of ideas from experts and organizations.
- Centers for Disease Control and Prevention: Divisions of HIV/AIDS Prevention
- This government web site provides excellent referral, reference and prevention information on
HIV/AIDS, STD and TB. It is one of the most comprehensive sites for research, statistical information and
links to other AIDS resources, databases, directories, listservs, newsgroups and organizations providing
such related HIV/AIDS services as counseling, health care, testing, prevention, education and outreach.
Some of the most noteworthy resources included are "HIV/AIDS Surveillance Reports" and articles related
to HIV/AIDS in "Mortality and Morbidity Weekly Report" and other materials published by the CDC.
- HIV InSite AIDS Information from the University of California, San Francisco
- This useful web site includes HIV Knowledge Base, the comprehensive, on-line textbook of HIV disease from the University of California San Francisco and the San Francisco General Hospital. Authors of this work include more than 100 chapters are selected from among experts who are active in research, patient care, or policy. Most of the authors of this "hypertextbook" are university faculty at internationally recognized centers of HIV learning, and receive no financial compensation for their contributions.
- The Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS
- The United Nations Program on HIV/AIDS is co- sponsored by UNICEF, UNDP,
UNFPA, UNESCO, WHO, and the World Bank. This web site describes a world
wide perspective on all aspects of the disease. It is also a good
source for international AIDS conferences.
- National Library of Medicine Medline Plus - Health Topics on AIDS
- This web site provides access to Medline and consumer health information
on AIDS. It also provides links to AIDSLINE, AIDSDRUGS and AIDS Trials
databases on NLM's Internet Grateful Med, and
other federal government resources.
- The United States Patent and Trademark Office AIDS Database
- This web site provides access to AIDS related full-text patents with
images from the US PTO, including Japanese and European patent offices.
