American Memory
American Memory is the Library of Congress gateway to rich primary source materials.

British Library: Hispanic Section
Descriptions of the collections of resources in the British Library relative to Spain, Portugal, Latin America, the Spanish-speaking Caribbean, and the former Hispanic territories in Asia and Africa.

Country Information, Regional and World Rankings
Aneki.com is an independent, privately operated website based in Montreal, Canada. They are dedicated to promoting knowledge of the world's countries and regions. The website serves as a comprehensive source of world rankings in a number of categories. The data is derived from numerous sources including United Nations agencies and the United States' Central Intelligence Agency's World Factbook.

Country Studies: Area Handbook Series (Library of Congress / Department of the Army)
Online editions of a series of books which describe and analyze the political, social, and cultural characteristics of foreign countries. Spain, Portugal, and a number of Latin American countries are currently available.

Eldis: The Gateway to Development Information (Institute of Development Studies, Sussex)
A gateway to information sources on development and the environment. Includes country profiles for many Latin American countries.

Hispanic Reading Room: Library of Congress
The primary access point at the Library of Congress for research relating to the Caribbean, Latin American, Iberia, and peoples historically influenced by Luso-Hispanic heritage. Includes descriptions of collections and services, guides and research aids, and online collections.

Human Rights Internet
A gateway to worldwide human rights information on the Internet. Besides the information on the site, HRI offers documentation services and bibliographic searching for a fee.

International Bureau of Education: Country Dossiers (UNESCO)
Brings together facts and data on education in member states created by the IBE. Spain and Portugal currently available.

Provides access to the best Web resources for education and research, selected and evaluated by a network of subject specialists.

Economic data for 152 countries in 29 subjects.

UK National Archives

United Nations
The gateway to information on the UN and its family of organizations. A wealth of resources on issues relating to peacekeeping, human rights, the environment, economics, development, health, telecommunications, and many other subjects.

University of London/ Research Library Services Archives
Includes summaries of archival collections as well as full catalogues pertaining to Africa, the Caribbean and Latin America.

U.S. National Archives

U.S. Committee for Refugees
Includes current and archived reports on refugee conditions by country, and overviews of relevant issues and topics in the refugee field.

World Population Profile (U.S. Census Bureau)
The latest published compendium and analysis of data on population, fertility, mortality, contraceptive use, and related demographic topics. With a special chapter focusing on AIDS/HIV in the developing world.

Instituto Ibero-Americano, Berlin
The Ibero-American Institute, Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation, is a center of interdisciplinary scientific and cultural exchange focused on Latin America, Spain, and Portugal. The Institute houses Europe's largest library specialized in Ibero-American culture.

Spanish-American War: A Research Guide (New York Public Library)
Includes books, pamphlets, government documents, newspapers, magazines, and electronic and Internet resources.

University of Pennsylvania Library, Annenberg Rare Book And Manuscript Library, Henry Charles Lea Library
This library collects primary materials for the study of the late medieval and early modern period. The Library focuses on the history of religion with a special interest of periods such as the Inquisition in Europe generally, Spain particularly and Spanish America.

African Americans and National Identities in Central America
An interdisciplinary, multinational research program to reconceptualize and document, both visually and textually, the history of people of African descent in Central America. Supported by the National Endowment for the Humanities Collaborative Research Program, Mount Holyoke College, and the Center for Central American Historical Research at the Universidad de Costa Rica.

Latin American Database (University of New Mexico)
A news and educational service on Latin America. Includes weekly electronic news bulletins about Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean; a searchable archive of over 24,000 articles since 1986 updated weekly, and teaching materials and resources.

One of the world's foremost collections of source materials in Latin American Studies.

Latin American Studies Resources (New York University)
A very comprehensive research guide, including Web links, a bibliography of reference sources, a guide to government documents, and more.

Latin Americanist Research Resources Pilot Project (Association of Research Libraries)
Includes a database of 400 periodical titles and digital images of presidential speeches from Mexico and Argentina.

University of Essex Latin American Art Collection
The University of Essex Centre for Latin American Studies is one of the largest Latin American Studies Institutes in the UK. It has the largest public collection of Latin American art outside Latin America and one of the best Latin American library collections in the UK.
