An interviewVolume 1: Dr. Yalom brings the group from content to process, establishes group norms, establishes a supportive group environment, and builds trust among group members. Between sessions, he comments on the situations depicted and the techniques used. The patients are actors but the situation and dialog are drawn from Dr. Yalom's experience with real patients. Volume 2: Dr. Yalom demonstrates his here and now approach in a therapy group in an acute inpatient psychiatric ward of a general hospital. He helps patients break through their isolation and avoid practices that might lead to the failure of the group session.
